We Grow by Design is an NSF GRFP-supported research initiative developing the Activate • Grow • Thrive framework and a collection of place-based learning models inspired by ecosystems around the world. Drawing upon educational neuroscience, ecology, and place-based education, the project explores how nature’s patterns can help learners understand growth, deepen engagement, and build meaning. This site will share resources, models, and research updates as a formal study begins in middle school STEM classrooms in 2027. Educators from all content areas are welcome to join the journey.
